Moi je le kiffe toutes les semaines sur Radio Canut (102.2 Fm / Tuesday 18-19h, http://radio.canut.free.fr/) animés par les 2 lyonnais les plus "wonky" de France aka Kptoon-Ping et Oli-Pong. Vous connaissez mon incurable penchant à chercher les oizo rares ? Hé bien sachez que j'en déniche régulièrement quelques-uns via le Ping-Pong RadioShow !

En plus de leur émission hebdo, Kptoon et Oliv lancent une série de mix appelée Ping's Box, habillée par le graphiste Glaucôme, qui a pour originalité d'être conçue à chaque fois par deux Beatmakers, 1 Lyonnais / 1 étranger, ayant pour mission de se présenter à travers leurs sélections. Ce mois-ci sort la Ping-Box #2 et je représente "l'ailleurs" au côté de Fumon Tonko pour la locale lyonnaise.

Start !

First ep is designed by Thomas Huot-Marchand (http://www.thomashuotmarchand.com), rather well-known in the world of typography.
He made some wonderful work recently for "Le Musée d'Orsay" (Paris), and a little before that, for the "Musiques de Rues" festival, that took place in Besançon 2 years ago.
He also created our dope "Funk Doubistes" logo and take part in the design of the cubes especially made for the Boogieboxxx 01 (collab with Akroe, Ease &Tabas).
It's been a while that we talk about working together on a common project...
I'm very happy that finally comes the oppotunity and the result is killer !!!

Bon.. Hé bien voilà, je commence ce blog aujourd'hui Dimanche 9 mars, sans trop savoir exactement de quoi je vais parler, si ce n'est que ce sera certainement de musique..
Non. En fait, à l'instant même ou je termine cette phrase, je me rends compte que je sais très bien ce dont je vais vous faire part : ANTIPOP CONSORTIUM!!
Ce groupe mythique, dont je ne suis pas par ailleurs franchement toujours fan (souvent j'ai beaucoup de mal à m'emballer sur le strict aspect musical, même si la fraîcheur de leurs expérimentations est fascinante.. ), séparé comme chacun sait depuis quelques années présentait son attendue réunion hier soir sur les planches de La Vapeur à Dijon, dans le cadre du festival Generiq. Et j'y étais!!
...Quel concert!!
Earl Blaize, Beans, High Priest, M. Sayyid et un dj dont j'ai oublié le nom, autour d'une table au milieu de la scène, Mpc, Laptop, Synthé, effets.. Rien que la disposition présageait quelque chose d'exceptionnel..
Le principe était assez simple : alterner morceaux instrumentaux joués à cinq et morceaux rappés en interaction avec le public. M.Sayyid a joué au chef d'orchestre, communiquant au public son excitation visible de retrouver cette formation, exhortant la foule à crier à chaque prestation de ses collègues, dirigeant l'évolution des phases instrumentales, se jetant dans la foule... Bref, survolté!! C'était assez drôle de le voir dans se rôle, d'autant plus qu'il était manifestement déchiré et qu'il paraissait de tous le moins apte à se maîtriser..
Et pourtant, l'idée a été géniale, et il s'est avéré être vraiment la pièce maîtresse de l'alchimie du combo. L'égo de HP ou de Beans aurait certainement pris le pas sur l'ensemble, s'ils avaient eu à tenir cette fonction, et Earl Blaize semble trop timide pour ça.
Pour la partie rappée, tous ont été magistraux dans leur prestation. Le flow d'High Priest était parfait: voix maîtrisée, flow toujours en place, j'ai envie de dire comme d'habitude. Sayyid était énergique et efficace. Earl Blaize nous a gratifié d'un refrain aussi génial que simple. Et Beans.. Incroyable!!! D'ordinaire, je préfère Sayyid, mais il faut bien avouer que sur scène la maîtrise dont il fait preuve dans la rythmique du débit est impressionnante.. C'est extrêmement rigoureux et pourtant tellement libre!! Il a cette capacité à passer du binaire au ternaire en restant vraiment précis sur le placement qui personnellement me scotche. Un régal.

Pour la partie instrumentale, c'était parfois un petit peu bancal sur le plan du jeu, mais vraiment très bon sur le plan musical!! J'ai adoré les ambiances.. Le travaille du son était vraiment kiffant. J'ai trouvé quand même les beats de Sayyid un peu répétitifs. Mais tous ces moments ont réussi à me faire décoller. Je ne sais pas trop où j'ai atterri d'ailleurs, peut importe, c'était mortel.. Le dernier son en particulier.
Sinon, le répertoire était assez bien équilibré entre anciens et nouveaux morceaux.. Et autant vous le dire tout de suite, pour moi c'est clair: vivement le nouvel album!! les nouveaux so-mor Déééééfoncent...
J'ai juste une crainte: que leur son ne soit pas aussi rond sur l'album. Le morceau Vulcano sur leur page myspace sonne en effet un peu sec en regard de la version live. Même si au passage le son de La Vapeur n'était pas très flatteur..
Un grand moment!!!


Ca me fait presque oublié que, juste avant eux, jouaient Galactic, et que leur prestation était aussi plutôt bonne, notamment grace à la présence de Chali2na, impressionnant de charisme et de flow (ce type dégage une gentillesse incroyable), et Boots Riley de The Coup au jeu de scène étonnant, évoquant une rockstars late 60'es, sautant partout chemise ouverte et afro soignée...

The Kool Kids, également au programme m'ont un peu déçu. La prestation très courte, et leur morceaux, très Run-DMC, manquent un peu d'originalité je trouve. Le show étant malgré tout de bonne facture, ça m'a soutiré quelques mouvements de tête, j'avoue.
